Payroll Specialist

We are searching for an experienced Payroll Specialist
Indiana - Hybrid

Essential Function

As a Payroll Specialist at Everwise Credit Union, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and compliant administration of our payroll and compensation methodology. Your responsibilities will encompass processing the Credit Union's payroll, managing payroll-related taxes, and assisting with time and attendance matters. You will be at the forefront of maintaining documentation and ensuring year-end reporting accuracy. Additionally, you will actively participate in salary surveys, making recommendations for the improvement of employment policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties

·        Responsible for processing the Credit Union's payroll, including tax verification and balancing.

·        Lead in interpreting and resolving questions regarding payroll and time and attendance.

·        Oversee the overall function of the payroll system, from processing to documentation.

·        Implement system upgrades for payroll and time and attendance, including employee communication.

·        Maintain accurate documentation related to the payroll function.

·        Ensure timely and accurate year-end reporting, including employee W-2s.

·        Generate necessary reports from payroll and time and attendance systems and assist management with reporting needs.

·        Conduct thorough audits and reports to ensure payroll compliance with company policies and government regulations.

·        Participate in salary surveys to achieve corporate compensation objectives and make recommendations for policy and procedure enhancements.

·        Assist in evaluating existing and new programs, ensuring the compensation methodology is up-to-date, competitive, and compliant with regulations.

·        Ensure payroll systems comply with government regulations by collaborating with vendors.

·        Be accountable for the timeliness and accuracy of all processed data, reports, and files.

·        Provide quality service to Everwise staff and management.

·        Take on additional responsibilities to support the growth of the Human Resources Department.

Specific Skills

  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute government regulations.
  • Proficiency in database software for data entry and reporting.
  • Navigate various payroll and time and attendance software.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with employees, members, and business professionals.
  • Understand and apply government laws and regulations, as well as Everwise policies and procedures relating to Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US PATRIOT ACT, and OFAC

 


Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of Wage & Hour and FLSA regulations.
  • 2+ years’ payroll processing experience or 2+ years’ equivalent HRIS experience or related field
  • Certified Compensation Specialist a plus
